WOODLAND HILLS SANITARY DISTRICT  MEETING

November 14, 2012

The meeting began at 6:34pm and was held at the Lark Lane meeting hall.  Attending were Jim Stewart, Evan Hutchings, Carol Crozman, Randy Alexander, Lois Lund and Ed Striebel.

Secretary's Report:  Jim read the minutes from the October meeting.  Corrections were noted for the late fee discussion.

Randy made a motion to accept the minutes with a 2nd by Evan.

Income Statement:  Income was minus $400.  Expenses included repairs for the leak on Lark Lane.  Evan motioned to accept the statement with a 2nd by Randy.

Water Report:  The leak repair on October 12 was on Lark Lane just up from the Woodland Drive intersection.   The number 2 booster pump, in the pump house at the gravel/asphalt bend on Woodland Dr, called for water with no water available.  The pump ran hot and melted the pipe.  The pipe was replaced and the pump resumed normal operation.  The leak was caused by a blown connection where the service line meets the main line.  New valves were installed at the corner of Lark Lane and Woodland Dr on October 26 as the old valves were inoperative.  Water losses for the month were 52 percent.  Ed reports the water system pumps are running more than usual and another leak is suspected.     Jim motioned to accept the water report with a 2nd by Randy.

Old Business: The liability and property insurance policies were updated from the Woodland Hills Community Association to the Woodland Hills Sanitary District.

New Business: Ali DeMersseman, Community Development Planner from the Black Hills Council of Local Governments met with the trustees.  The district is on the state water plan for 2013 and now we can make our application for funding.  The trustees will meet with Ted Schultz of CETEC to finalize what will be in the application and the cost of the project.

The project will consist of:

The estimated cost is between $557,764 and $768,088.  The variable in the estimate is the rock encountered in placing meter pits and if directional drilling can be used.  A public hearing will probably take place in March or April 2013.

The next trustees meeting will be held December 12, 2012.

This meeting was adjourned at 7:46 pm.
