Woodland Hills Sanitary District

June 2019 Minutes

The June meeting of the Woodland Hills Sanitary District was called to order at 6:32pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Roll Call: President Bobby Sadler established that a quorum existed to conduct the meeting.  In attendance were Lois Lund, Ed Striebel and board members Beth Haivala and Jim Stewart.  Garry Colasardo and John Knight were not able to attend.

Adoption of Agenda: Bobby presented the agenda to the board and it was unanimously adopted.

Secretary’s Report: The May minutes were reviewed.  Bobby made a motion to approve the minutes, 2nd by Beth and the vote was 3-0 to approve.

Income Report: Net income for May was $4,678.   All accounts were paid in May!

Water Report:   Water losses for March were 15.7%.  There were two occasions of SCADA communication failure with the Lark Lane tanks.  The overflow pipes were spewing water on one occasion and Ed was able to manually reset the system.  Dakota Pump is investigating the problem and there should be a resolution for the July meeting.

Road Report:  The board voted 3-0 on a motion by Bobby Salder to give Randy Alexander a $750 payment for the extra plowing that was done for the May 21-22 blizzard.  The storm dropped 19 to 20 inches of snow and many trees were snapped and across the upper part of Woodland Drive.  Randy made three passes with his tractor to keep Woodland Drive open.  The board also discussed having a back up plow operator in cases when Randy is not available.  Randy actually likes to take vacations out of town during the winter months!   Jim will call around to see if we can line up a backup.

Old Business:  B&H has our patching order to rehab the Chickadee turn and three other locations on Woodland Drive.

Bobby will line up a contractor to replace the door and frame to the well house building.

Two nominating petitions have been received for the board openings.

New Business: None

Board member comments:  Bobby mention a relative of his being run off the road near the Peaceful Pines "S" curves and requested the Meade County Sheriff to add some patrol passes in the area.

Gary Hansen had a chat with Jim a few days before the meeting and asked if the board could adjust the motion light on the Lark Lane building to dissuade people from parking by the building overnight for extracurricular activity.

Resident comments:  no residents in attendance.

The board adjourned the meeting at 7:05pm.

Carefully submitted,

Jim Stewart
