September 2024 Minutes
Roll
Call: The September 11, 2024 meeting was called to
order at 6:35pm. In attendance at the
meeting were board members Garry Colasardo, Jared Nooney and Jim Stewart. Also attending; Lois Lund and Dylan Striebel (Clearwater Consulting).
Adoption
of Agenda: The
agenda was read and approved.
Secretary’s
Report: The minutes from August were approved.
Income
Report
August
highlights:
The road repair payment was
the major expense for August at $31,000.
There were 5 unpaid accounts
in August and 2 past due from July.
Water
Report: Dylan
checked on water losses after the leak repair near pump house 2. There were 18,000 gallons pumped and 20,000
were billed so the leak repair was very helpful (2,000 gallons more billed than
pumped due to timing of readings).
So
far just 22 homes have reported to the sdpipes web site. The EPA has a deadline of October 16, 2024
for getting the reports in. A fine
might be imposed in the future for water systems not in compliance with the
lead pipe reporting. If that happens
the fine amount will be divided among the homes that have not complied and
assessed on their water bill.
There
were five meters that failed to read in the last billing cycle and they been
repaired under warranty. A possible
fix for transducer lightning protection should be installed by week of
September 16.
Beginning
in 2026 a new series of tests for PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances)
will be required. Two tests will be
conducted in 2026 and the cost of each test will range from $500 to
$1,000. Currently there is no local lab
equipped to test for PFAS in water so the samples will be to be mailed
out. An explanation of PFAS can be
found at this EPA web site.
